(Bangkok Post file photo)Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, a former deputy prime minister in the Somchai Wongsawat government, will appear before the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Position on Aug 2, his lawyer said on Sunday. That day, the PAD protesters laid siege to parliament to prevent the government from delivering a policy statement and to pressure it to resign. Wipas Jarupong, Gen Chavalit's lawyer, said that although his client is still unwell he will definitely attend the court hearing for the ruling. He said other defendants, including Mr Somchai, are also expected to appear before the court that day as none of them had requested that the reading of the ruling be postponed.
